America 250: 250 Years Ago - October 1775 -- Historical Lecture by Guest Lecturer Eddie Vaughn

Join us in Conference Room 2B for a lecture and video presentation by Historical Guest Lecturer, Eddie Vaughn titled "250 Year Ago -- October 1775"  This lecturer is part of our day Talkin' about a Revolution America 250 celebration and LPB partnered introductory screening of the latest Ken Burn's documentary:  The American Revolution: A film by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt.

By the age of four a very young Eddie Vaughn was completely immersed in the historical world. Endless stores of the past; the great adventurers of historical figures; walking historical locations were daily events for a developing mind. With his grandfather leading the way, and two uncles hauling him to college history classes, Vaughn was hooked. He played with scale Civil War sets, dressed in WWI surplus equipment and there was lots of imagination to add to his idea of fun. With such influences it was impossible to not become a student of the past.

Over time, Vaughn’s “love” of history remained while a second “love” for sports was added. Utilizing his basketball skills, Vaughn pursued a double major in History and Social Studies/Education at Southeastern Louisiana University while playing collegiate basketball. Vaughn then went on to complete a Masters degree in Secondary Education with a minor in history from Louisiana State University. In order to further development of his two “loves” he then went to Mississippi State University to pursue additional education in both History and Educational Administration.

Throughout a more than 40 year working career, Vaughn has never ventured far from his two “loves” -- history and sports. Called a natural teacher by the likes of university professors and students, Vaughn has taught countless individuals at both the secondary and post-secondary level about both history and basketball.
