Nothing Attempted, Nothing Gained: The Legacy of Matilda Dodge Wilson
March 23, 2026, 6:00pm - 7:00pm
Bloomfield Township Public Library
Educational, Free, Library
Meadow Brook Hall Curator Madelyn Chrapla delves into the remarkable life of Matilda Dodge Wilson, a saloon keeper’s daughter who became one of the most influential women of the 20th century. After the 1920 death of her husband, automotive pioneer John Dodge, she charted her own course—becoming Michigan’s first female lieutenant governor and a champion for women’s empowerment. Guided by her motto, “To attempt great things is to expect great things. Nothing attempted, nothing gained,” her story continues to inspire ambition and perseverance.
Registration required and opens February 23. Bloomfield Township residents have one week of priority registration before registration opens to all.
