Bob Ojala worked in 58 countries as a Marine Surveyor (ship inspector), including seven weeks in Ukraine for an American government contractor, in Panama for their government during the 1999-2000 change-over of the Panama Canal, and investigated sinkings and damage to the Pacific tuna fleet in New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, and Samoa. He also investigated ship accidents and accidental deaths on tankers and other vessels, and performed Environmental Compliance Audits on cruise ships, making more than 175 cruises.
