Art & Exploration: Rochester Hills

August 15, 2026, 1:00pm - 2:30pm

Rochester Hills Public Library

Arts & Culture, Free

Did you know that the architect who designed the old Post Office, Louis A. Simon, also designed buildings in New York City, NY, and Burbank, CA, among other locations? Or that the sculpture created during the New Deal—which has since been moved to the new post office—was made by Alexander Sambugnac, a Hungarian artist whose works are in the collections of the Whitney Museum and the Smithsonian?

This lecture will highlight art, architecture, and cultural histories found within a 30-minute drive of the Rochester Hills Public Library. All guests will receive a map with an informational key to encourage local exploration beyond the lecture.
