Arts & Culture, Crafts, Educational
Designed specifically for young creators aged 8-12, Art Explorers connects real-world art history with active studio practice. Each session introduces a master artist, breaks down key art terms, and guides students through a unique project inspired by the master's style, techniques, and medium. Art Explorers will meet at 4 p.m. in the Library's Jones Meeting Center on the following Fridays this fall: September 11, October 9, and November 13.
This month, step into Wayne Thiebaud’s sweet world of Pop Art, where everyday bakery treats become larger-than-life works of art! In this hands-on 3D sculpture workshop, students will transform cardboard slices into 3D cake forms. Kids will construct 3D forms, apply layered "frosting" textures, and add decorative toppings like pipe-cleaner piping, pom-pom cherries, and bead sprinkles to create sculptures that look good enough to eat! Registration is required.
