Author Talk: Christy Smith

Author Christy Smith will talk about her book, Lost Cove, North Carolina: Portrait of a Vanished Appalachian Community, 1864-1957, on Saturday, April 22 at 2 p.m. in the Jones Meeting Room. She will tell the story of the Lost Cove community, and talk about the experience of writing the Lost Cove's first comprehensive history. No registration required. Christy Smith teaches Appalachian Studies at King University in Bristol, TN, and is the director of the Unicoi County Prevention Coalition. Smith researched the Lost Cove through archival and testimonial work, but also visiting Yancey County's ghost town over twenty times. Smith first presented her research on the Lost Cove for her ETSU dissertation, in completion of her graduate degree.
