Massachusetts beaches are popular destinations in the summer - for people and for birds. However, several of the birds that nest on our sandy coast, such as Piping Plovers, Least Terns, and American Oystercatchers, face many survival challenges. This online presentation will introduce these shorebirds, the challenges they face, their population trends in Massachusetts, and what actions and tools we can all use to protect them.
Instructors:
Doug Lowry - Adult Learning Specialist - South East Region; Lyra Brennan - Assistant Director of Mass Audubon's Coastal Waterbird Program
This virtual program was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services Care Act Grant through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners award LS-246539-OLS-20
