Summer is in full swing, but fall is one of the busiest and best times of the year in Michigan. There is no better way to experience the upcoming season than to celebrate at festivities around the state. Here are five must-attend fall festivals in Michigan you should definitely add to your calendar now.
This two-day event on September 14th and 15th in Grand Haven marks the transition from the end of summer to the beginning of fall and the harvest season. The event promotes the importance of Michigan’s coastal waterways and the salmon migration. The weekend includes arts, crafts, live music, wine, and of course salmon.
The city of Bessemer offers an annual event in the Upper Peninsula that the whole family will enjoy. Activities include a geocaching pumpkin hunt, a pumpkin pancake breakfast, Klassic Kruiser’s Car Show, and a costume parade. The event runs from September 24th-27th and is the perfect way to get into the fall spirit!
Take a walk back in time and experience the fall foods that Americans used to cook. For only 28 dollars (free for Greenfield Village members), visitors can enjoy activities, such as traditional fall cooking demonstrations, local roots product sampling, apple orchard tours and a complimentary food tasting at the Village Store. The event runs the weekends of September 29th-30th and October 6th-7th.
Celebrate fall in downtown Charlevoix October 12th-14th, while supporting local farmers, orchards, and non-profit organizations. Visitors can stroll through apple orchards that have over 30 varieties of apples, and the fall farmers market with fall favorites, such as pumpkins, pies, cider, and many more! The festival provides plenty of craft booths and kid activities, such as face painting and the Interactive Miniature Trains.
Witness the beauty of the iconic autumn colors that Northern Michigan has to offer at Treetops in Gaylord. For one day only, on October 13th, visitors of all ages can enjoy chairlift rides, lark walks, campfire, cider and donuts, s’mores, German barbeque, lawn games, outdoor activities, live music, and a beer tent for adults. Admission is 10 dollars per person or free if you donate a coat for Coats for Kids.
