COF Presents: Tocobaga People of Pinellas

The Tocobaga were a complex chiefdom that dominated the Tampa Bay area during the Safety Harbor cultural era (1000 AD - 1600 AD).  David Anderson is a professional historian, horticulturalist, and tour guide who started Discover Florida Tours in 2017 in order to offer a guided tour of a Tocobaga shell midden on land his family has stewarded for more than 80 years.  He will discuss the Tocobaga, including who they were, what they ate, and why they built mounds.
