This calligraphy exhibition will feature the artwork of Mr. Quansheng Wang. The pieces (about 30) showcased come from a personal collection.
Comes for special demonstration on how to write the character "Dragon" in traditional Chinese calligraphy, in celebration of the Year of the Dragon on the lunar calendar.
Attendees will learn how to write their names in Chinese calligraphy on a bookmark, which they can take home. Let me know if you need any further details for the event.
About the artist:
Wang Quansheng is a member of the Tianjin Calligraphy Association, and was born in Tianjin,China in 1946. From 1963 to 1968, he attended Yizhong School. His calligraphy journey began in childhood under the guidance of his grandfather. Later, he studied under Mr. Liu Yuefang. For over 50 years, Wang has dedicated himself to calligraphy, meticulously practicing and honing the techniques of ancient masters through continuous study of classic calligraphy texts and exploring works on philology and Chinese literary history. His expertise lies in clerical script (lìshū) and cursive script (cǎoshū), though he is equally skilled in seal script (zhuànshū), regular script (kǎishū), and semi-cursive script (xíngshū). In addition to calligraphy, he dabbles in painting and seal carving. Wang's calligraphy is known for its graceful, elegant style, imbued with a unique charm. His works have been featured in numerous exhibitions and have earned him several prestigious awards.
Currently, Wang serves as a Chinese culture lecturer for the Hong Kong-Tianjin Charity Association and as a calligraphy instructor at the Tianjin Senior University
