Raising Mentally Strong Kids: Navigate the Teenage Years with Connection, Confidence & Common Sense.
December 12, 2026, 10:00am - 11:30am
Lake Geneva Public Library
Classes, Educational, Free, Library
The program would focus on practical strategies parents can use immediately, including:
• Understanding the developing teenage brain
• Why connection must come before correction
• Co-regulation and emotional regulation
• Teaching responsibility without damaging the relationship
• Setting healthy, enforceable boundaries
• Reducing arguing, backtalk and power struggles
• Technology, phones and digital responsibility
• When to empathize, when to set a limit, and when to allow a consequence
• Maintaining influence and connection as teenagers become more independent
This will be a highly interactive lecture. Parents will have opportunities to discuss real-life situations, submit
questions anonymously, and leave with practical "one-liners," a Parent Reset Card, and other resources they can
use at home. There will be a question-and-answer portion where parents can bring their toughest parenting
situations for discussion. They will leave with a few practical tools, a better understanding of what is happening
developmentally, and renewed confidence that they can remain connected to their children while still setting
healthy boundaries.
