Family Literacy Center

The Family Literacy Center is a not-for-profit organization which provides one-to-one and small group tutoring for adults in the thumb area of Michigan. Tutoring is provided through trained volunteers and is based on the goals of the students. In 2017, we helped 49 of our students get their GED. We provide tutoring services for reading, math, language arts, GED prep, and English as a Second Language. We also provide family programs including school and library based child tutoring program, playgroups, and hot-topic workshops. We support our organization through partnership, grants, donations, and fundraisers. Our auction is scheduled for November 2, 2018. Our Camel Race fundraiser will be held on May 4, 2018. We provide many volunteer opportunities and provide a quality tutor training for community members. We partner with the Lapeer District Library, GST Michigan Works, Community Mental Health, Lapeer County Courts, local schools, and the United Way.
