**Screening held at Bernardsville Cinema, 5 Mine Brook Road, Bernardsville**
Join us for a special screening of American River at the Bernardsville Cinema, followed by a Q&A with award-winning documentary filmmaker Scott Morris. In this 86-minute cinematic adventure, Morris takes viewers on a journey alongside ecologist and author Mary Bruno, who embarks on a transformative 4-day kayak trip down the Passaic River—one of the most historically significant yet neglected waterways in the U.S. Through stunning visuals and compelling storytelling, American River explores both the environmental challenges facing this overlooked river and its deep cultural significance. Three years in the making, AMERICAN RIVER was directed by seasoned filmmaker Scott Morris and based on Mary Bruno’s 2012 book, An American River: From Paradise to Superfund. Like the book, the film is a unique blend of personal memoir, adventure, history and science. The entire journey was captured in grand and intimate scale from the water, land and air by an experienced crew with ten 4K cameras.. An original score, high-end graphics and rare archival images enhance the story. Don’t miss the chance to hear from Scott Morris about the making of the film and engage in an insightful discussion after the screening.
