SEPTEMBER: Kaukauna High School, the 1920s. Kids are back in school, and so are we! This year the "old" high school (today's Riverview) celebrated 100 years. Let's continue the celebration by looking back to high school life of the 1920s. The new building, the football team, the science club, the yearbook. It's all here. Ra-ra-sis-boom-bah!
OCTOBER: True Crime, Kaukauna-Style. In past years we've explored some of the most heinous crimes in local history: the Michael McCarty murder and the Porter Ross brothel shootout. For this program, we'll cover both of those and more from a new angle. For October, we're looking at the creation of the police department. What turned Kaukauna from a lawless frontier town into having a modern police force in the early 1900s? Find out!
NOVEMBER: Richardson Photography. For decades, Kaukauna had a world-class photographer with his own studio on the Island. How world-class? Well, how about photographing the royal family while in Bermuda? This program will cover the life of brothers Frank and Meade Richardson, Kaukauna's great cameraman, and their various exploits at home and abroad. (Bonus points if you have any Richardson photos to bring in and share!)
DECEMBER: Guy Krumm. Kaukauna has had some noteworthy coaches over the years, from "Tiger" Bill Smith to Paul Little and beyond. This month we focus on Guy Krumm and the lasting impact he made on the athletics department of Kaukauna High School.
