Southfield residents now have a new way to reduce food waste through a food scrap drop-off program launched in partnership with Sustainable Southfield and Make Food Not Waste.
The pilot program offers residents free starter kits and information on Smart Compost Bin locations throughout the city. Participants can register by completing the Food Scrap Interest Form (click sign-up, above), then pick up their kit on designated distribution dates.
Participants can locate drop-off sites by utilizing the Bigbelly Smart Compost app, available in the Apple App Store or Google Play store. The first 1,200 Southfield residents to sign up for the program have the option to receive a free starter kit.
