Title: Mystery and Ecology of Trees
Date: Saturday, January 10, 2026
Time: 10 am
Place: Main Library at Goodwood
Presented by: Alec Baxt Arborist
The Baton Rouge Botanic Garden Foundation will host a FREE Garden Discoveries event, “Mystery and Ecology of Trees,” led by Alec Baxt, Certified Arborist and Tree Consultant.
Unlike us, trees are stuck in place, yet they stand exposed to the natural elements for years, sometimes generations. While we can move and take shelter, trees stay in place subject to daily cycles, annual ebbs and flows and unpredictable of extremes. Trees have much to teach us about how they survive facing forces of earth, water, wind and fire. Learn how trees work and meet their needs and change the outer world they live in.
Alec Baxt has been a Certified Arborist for over 20 years, with a range of experience in the public and private sectors along with research collaborations in South America and Africa. He does hands on tree care, consulting and teaching in Baton Rouge and New York.
Weather permitting a tour will follow of the Baton Rouge Botanic Gardens adjacent to the Library.
