History of the Orphan Train Museum

The Louisiana Orphan Train Museum, located in Opelousas, collects and preserves items that tell the history of the Orphan Train riders who came to Louisiana by train from the New York Foundling Hospital in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The president of the Orphan Train Society, Martha Aubert will come to the Main Library to tell the story of the orphans who came to Louisiana as well as their upcoming events and exhibits at the museum. Do you have a relative who rode on the train? Please join us and tell your story. Wednesday, April 17 at 6:00 pm at the Main Library. Sponsored by the Special Collections Department. We Love History!
