Holiday Hoopla

This year marks the 5th Annual Holiday Hoopla Parade and Winter Carnival Celebration in New Paltz. “Holiday Hoopla” does not highlight a particular religious or spiritual celebration, but together, we are committing to bringing ‘light’ and good cheer, as well as reminding folks they are cared for and not alone. The planning team has been working on this year’s festivities since January, and we are

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Winter Carnival @ Historic Huguenot Street with live music, children’s costume contest (theme to be announced), food vendors, and numerous activities for children of all ages and families (i.e., arts & crafts, bouncy houses, face painting, outdoor carnival games, petting zoo, etc.).

3:00 PM – 5:00 PM “Music, Merriment, and More” at Elting Memorial Library

Outdoor Stage (Parking Lot):
⭐ 3:00 PM-4:15 PM - Youth Talent Showcase & DJ Jay Smooth
⭐3:00 PM-4:30 PM in the parking lot – Holiday Hoopla’s “Be the Change” service projects designed to “bring light” to members of our community.

Indoor (Children’s Library & Steinberg Room):
⭐ 3:00 PM-3:45 - Special Children’s Reading & Book Signing w/Ellen Kalish
⭐ 3:45 PM-4:30 PM - Story Magic with Lorraine Hartin-Gelardi

5:00 PM – 5:30 PM “Peace & Light Parade” – The goal of this parade is to “bring peace and light” to the community, particularly those who may find this a difficult time of year. All holiday traditions are welcome and encouraged to participate (i.e., Solstice, Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, etc.). We will have a contest for the “Most Festive,” “Most Creative,” and “Children’s Favorite” floats ($300 each category). The parade departs from the New Paltz Middle School @5:00 PM and ends at the Village DPW parking lot.

6:00 PM – 9:00 PM “Water Street Wonderland” – Join us for the special post-parade festivities taking place at Water Street Market. Planning is under way and more details are
