Introduction to Foraging

Join Bluegrass Ladies Sporting for a welcoming, beginner-friendly introduction to identifying and using Kentucky’s abundant wild plants. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll cover the essentials: safety, ethical harvesting, beginner gear, and the first five plants every new forager should confidently recognize. Together, we’ll explore common seasonal species growing right here in the Bluegrass and discuss simple, practical ways to incorporate them into everyday life. Depending on location and weather, we may step outside for a short identification walk or work with fresh plant material indoors. You’ll leave with a beginner guide, practical notes, and the confidence to start noticing what’s growing around you. Outdoor skills build independence, stewardship, and community. Whether you’re brand new or returning after time away, this workshop is designed to help you take the next step—safely, sustainably, and together.
