DeAnna Weeden, also known by her stage name DeAnna Victoria, is a Jazz vocalist, songwriter and educator. She has performed at The Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, The North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague and made her New York debut at The Iridium Jazz Club, when she sang with The Lionel Hampton Celebration Band. Having performed with some of the world's most notable figures in Jazz, including Lionel Hampton and Curtis Fuller to name a few, she clearly has the voice of a true Jazz singer! She continues to exceed the expectations of her listeners, by creating a nostalgic and dynamic atmosphere, which evokes the authentic, timeless elements of classic Jazz, interwoven with her own distinctive nuances. DeAnna Victoria was Born to sing! She will be singing Jazz standards plus for this special Juneteenth performance her repertoire will feature songs of prayer, protest and freedom - paying tribute to Abbey Lincoln, Nina Simone, Duke Ellington and Paul Laurence Dunbar.
Join us early at 5:30pm in front of city hall for the raising of the Juneteenth flag and the national anthem sung by DeAnna Victoria.
Concerts will be on the Fountain Terrace with a rain location in the meeting room. Please bring along your own lawn chair. No admission fees will be charged but donations to the Friends of the Southfield Public Library will be accepted. Generously sponsored by the Friends of the Southfield Public Library.
