Luther "Badman" Keith Blues Band / Juneteenth Celebration
The Jazz and Blues concert series is back.
Boogie with the breeze. Our 1st of 3 free outdoor concerts on the Fountain Terrace at the Southfield Public Library.
The band’s music includes a mixture of blues, funk, soul and rock, featuring Luther “Badman” Keith (guitar), Rick Gould (drums), Mark Croft (keys) and Jerome “Juice” Yancy (bass).
Blues classics, originals and celebratory songs will highlight the jubilant feeling enslaved African-Americans in Texas felt when they learned they were freed. Even though President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation freeing slaves in 1863, it was not until June 19, 1865 that Union Troops made slaves in Texas aware of the fact that they were free.
Concerts will be on the Fountain Terrace. Please bring along your own lawn chair and mask will be required. No admission fees will be charged but donations to the Friends of the Southfield Public Library will be accepted.
Concerts are weather dependent. Updates will be posted on the library's social media and website if concert will be canceled.
Generously sponsored by the Friends of the Southfield Public Library.
