Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tournament

This year, due to overwhelming interest, RCL's gaming tournaments are moving to a lottery-based registration format.

WAHOO! Do you enjoy racing with the Mushroom Kingdom’s finest? Come race your friends for trophies, prizes, and glory in our summer Mario Kart 8 tournament! Snacks will be provided. 

Teens only (grades 6-12 OR ages 11-17). Registration required. Spectators welcome! Costumes encouraged! 

RULES: 

• Teens only (grades 6-12 OR ages 11-17).
• Registration required for participation. Maximum of 16 participants. Participants will be chosen based on lottery. 
• Players must follow the RCL Gaming Tournament Code of Conduct. 
• Players may bring their own Nintendo Switch controllers to play with, if desired.
• All/any unlocked vehicles and characters are allowed. DLC content is unavailable.

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE: 

• Participants will be randomly seeded into groups of 4 for the starting bracket. 
• Each round will consist of a 4-player Versus Mode set of 4 races. The 2 highest-ranked players will advance to the next round of competition. 
• Each participant will get to choose 1 track per round. Repeats are allowed. 
• All Versus Mode races will use the following settings: 
  
  • 150cc Race
  • Teams: No Teams
  • Items: Normal Items
  • COM: Easy COM
  • COM Vehicles: All Vehicles
  • Courses: Choose
  • Race Count: 4 Races
• Player settings options are as follows: 
  
  • Smart Steering: Off
  • Auto-Accelerate: Off
  • Motion Controls: Player’s choice

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

This year, due to overwhelming interest, RCL's annual summer gaming tournaments are moving to a lottery-based registration format. 

By registering for this event, you are submitting your name to the lottery pool. On Friday, July 11th at 10 AM, 16 names will be drawn from the lottery pool. If your name is drawn, you will be contacted via both the phone number and email used for registration. 

The first 16 people drawn will have until 5 PM on Tuesday, July 15th to confirm their participation. 

In the event someone either withdraws from the tournament or fails to confirm their participation by the deadline, a new name will be drawn for the spot. If your name is drawn, you will have 24 hours to confirm your participation, so keep an eye on your phone and email!
