Meet the Author - Jeannine A. Cook

Join us at Sinking Spring Public Library after hours to talk with author Jeannine A. Cook about her new book, Shut Up and Read: A memoir from Harriett's Bookshop.

Shut Up & Read is Jeannine A. Cook's deeply personal memoir about opening her dream bookshop in Philadelphia on the eve of the Covid-19 pandemic.  Raised by a blind librarian, Jeannine grew up understanding the power of books.  After opening Harriett's Bookshop, named in honor of Harriett Tubman, and dedicated to celebrating women authors and artists, the pandemic forced it doors closed just six weeks later, leaving Jeannine uncertain whether her dream would survive.  Through memoir, journal entries, and imagined imagined conversations with Harriett Tubman, Jeannine explores purpose, the strength of community, and the power of stories.
