The holidays can be a time of great sorrow, loneliness and increased feelings of isolation and depression for some. Mainstream media and cultural ‘norms’ often paint a picture of joy and love during this time, which may not be the reality many of our friends and neighbors experience. Coming out of a two-year pandemic in which rates of depression, anxiety, loneliness have increased, makes this holiday season an especially sensitive time for many. This seminar will provide information on how the holidays can present unique challenges and feelings of despair for many, how the COVID pandemic has exacerbated the mental health concerns of our community and what you can do to help yourself and others.
Leslie Styer from Macomb County Community Mental Health will be talking about tips and resources for managing your mental health around the holidays.
This event will be held in-person at the Library and streamed live via Zoom.
