Navigate the challenges of modern life together in workshops covering Technology & Social Media, School-Related Anxiety, and Bullying. Presented by Giesken Counseling.
Mental Health Workshop #1:
Join us for an enlightening event where we explore the profound impact of digital life on recent generations, particularly its association with poor mental health outcomes such as anxiety and depression. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the ways social media usage affects mental well-being and learn practical strategies to reduce screen time and enhance face-to-face interactions. Geared towards ages 10 and up, this event is designed to equip families with tools to foster healthier digital habits and improve mental well-being.
This event will be presented by staff from Giesken Counseling Services, a mental health counseling group with a dozen licensed professional clinicians engaging the Clarkston, Grand Blanc, and Rochester Hills communities. Parents and children are welcome to attend at no cost. During the event, parents and children will begin the conversation together and then will split into separate groups. Kids will engage in a social learning activity, while parents will learn about enhancing the family's online digital habits and fostering more meaningful face-to-face connections. You'll walk away with free, ready-to-use resources and have an opportunity to win a copy of "The Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt, the inspiration for this event.
Thursdays: September 19, October 17, November 21
Ages: Parents and school-aged children/teens
Registration Required; Please register for each instance separately.
