About the Artist
"Over the years I've developed several different ways of creating an image. I started out as a cartoonist and was working with pencil, pen, ink and grey markers. I had little experience working in color, until fate came knocking at my door.
That knock came from my friend Bob. He just got into doing stained glass and opened a shop in Brooklyn and needed me to do designs. So Bob taught me the basics of doing stained glass and I fell in love with it and hence was my introduction into color and its power.
I move upstate and never looked back or desired to go back to city life. I opened a stained glass shop in New Paltz, NY in 1979. At that point I was manufacturing Tiffany Type lamps and wholesaling them to lighting stores throughout the tri-state area.
Over the last two years I've been able to focus on doing detail graphite drawings. Afterwards I scan them into the computer. It takes six scans to get a 18 by 24 drawing into the computer.
Using Photoshop, I piece the six scans into a single image and then I colorize the drawing such as you would a black and white photo. I isolate a particular area with the rope tool and then stroke the rope line and colorize using the color adjustment which consists of three sliding knobs that when moved side to side will add a range of color choices."
