Attention juniors! Get a head start on your Common App essay. In this workshop you will...
- Discover what college admissions officers are actually looking for
- Learn how college essays are used in the admissions process
- Learn how to tell your authentic story in your essays
- Brainstorm, outline, and write the first draft of your 650-word Common App essay
Registration is required for this workshop. Participants should bring something to write on (a computer, or a pen and notebook), a snack, and an open mind!
Instructor Biography:
Eric Tipler graduated from Harvard (BA) and Yale (MA) and has been coaching teens on college essays for over ten years. A former high school history and psychology teacher, he taught at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (Virginia) and Friendship Public Charter School (Washington, DC). Eric also taught and advised Yale undergraduates as a teaching fellow and graduate fellow, and he served as an Associate Head of College for Yale Summer Session. Write Yourself In, his forthcoming book, is a friendly, step-by-step guide through the college essay process.
