Seekers Book Club: The Color of Water

On Thursday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m., ages 18 and older are invited to Seekers Book Club to discuss The Color of Water: A Black Man's Tribute to His White Mother by James McBride. The group meets at the Langston Centre (315 Elm Street, Johnson City) on the third Thursday of every month.

Registration is required; call the Langston Centre at (423) 434-5785 to register and learn more. A few copies of The Color of Water will be available to the first registrants who sign up. 

"The Color of Water touches readers of all colors as a vivid portrait of growing up, a haunting meditation on race and identity, and a lyrical valentine to a mother from her son" (Riverhead Books, 2006). 

Seekers Book Club is a monthly book discussion group that reads classic and contemporary works by African American authors. The series is a partnership between Johnson City Public Library and the Langston Centre.
