Shirefest

All ages are invited to Shirefest, a celebration of the charm of the Hobbits’ Shire and the heart of Appalachian culture, on Sunday, Sept. 21 from 2-4:30 p.m. at the Library. The free community crossover festivities will feature a storytelling hour with the International Storytelling Center’s Teller-in-Residence Jennifer Armstrong, as well as live Celtic music from Jenny and the Weazels and the Science Hill Chamber Orchestra. You’ll experience demonstrations by local blacksmiths and fiber artisans, and discover regional critters and natural wonders. The whole family will enjoy playing festival games, sipping locally-brewed soda, and browsing vendors.
