The Southfield Library will be starting a seed library in the spring of 2023! But in order to do that, we need your help. From October 11th to October 23rd, we will be accepting donations of a variety of seeds. Come to the library’s Circulation Lobby and place your packaged seeds in the appropriate drop boxes.
Some guidelines for donations:
• Vegetable, herb and flower seeds only, please.
• When you arrive to deposit your seeds, you will fill out a form containing information such as the type of seed, source, year, growing conditions, etc.
• Organic, non-GMO seeds are preferred but we will take other types.
Here are some suggested plant types to get us started:
Vegetables: Beans, Beets, Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Corn, Cucumber, Kale, Lettuce, Onions, Peas, Peppers, Radishes, Spinach, Squash, Tomato (fruit)
Herbs: Basil, Bergamot, Chamomile, Cilantro, Dill, Garlic, Lavender, Mint, Oregano, Rosemary, Sage, Thyme
Flowers: Begonia, Black-eyed Susan, Blanket Flower, Butterfly Weed, Coneflower, Cosmos, Dahlia, Daisy, Geranium, Hosta, Marigold, Milkweed, Pansy, Peony, Petunia, Sunflower, Yarrow, Zinnia. WS
