Mainstreet Pontiac is hosting a 5k fun run/walk together with Pontiac Community Foundation and the Healthy Pontiac, We Can! coalition to raise awareness about mental health issues including depression, suicide, eating disorders, violence and abuse in our community. In addition to the run/walk, the event will include stories from those who have been impacted, resource tables from local support services, music, yoga, and food!
The “color run” style event will include tossing colored powder on participants at stations throughout the race using colors to represent mental health awareness (green and blue) and suicide prevention (teal and purple) – resulting in a beautiful mess on the white race t-shirts (dress accordingly)! Register early to ensure you receive a t-shirt!
$10 Registration fee for adults
K-12 students and children are FREE (but must be registered)
All the profits from this event will go to a great Pontiac resource in Downtown, Centro Multicultural Mi Familia. Centro provides numerous support services including: Outpatient Mental Health, Substance Abuse Services, Domestic Violence Program, Youth Mental Health First Aid, Parenting Workshops, Cultural Competence Training, Bilingual Health Education, Assistance with Health Insurance Applications, Mental Health Workshops, Citizenship Classes, and more… Visit https://www.centromulticultural.org/ to see their stellar work!
