Spend your summer reading time with us! Every Tuesday from 3-5pm, tweens and teens ages 10-17 are welcome to come hang out, make some art, do some dinosaur-inspired activities, eat snacks, and be yourself.
On the agenda:
June 9: Decorate your journal. Everyone who registers for Summer Reading gets a free journal, to "dig up" your own story! Make it uniquely yours.
June 16: Making fossils. Have you ever found a fossil, an ancient life form captured in stone? Make a few of your very own!
June 23: Create a Time Capsule. Unearth your story in the future! Make objects that represent your today, write a bit about them, then bury them all in a jar for a future dig.
June 30: Hatch a Story. Break open a dinosaur egg, then create a character with your newly-hatched dino! Name it! Describe what they like or don't like. Describe their life. Write a story featuring your dinosaur.
July 7: Dino Skeleton Sculpting. Construct your own dinosaur skeleton out of Model Magic. Maybe you'll create your own dino, unknown to science until this very day!
July 14: Dino Soap. Make soap, with a dino surprise inside!
July 21: Fizzy Dino Eggs. Build your own dino eggs for later fizzy fun.
July 28: Mosaic Tile Stepping Stones. Create a fun stepping stone with broken pottery and pizzazz! PLEASE NOTE: This project will take considerably longer to complete, so arrange for your ride at 5pm. Even then, you'll need to come back for your stepping stone after several days of drying.
This event is supported by the State Library of Ohio with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
