Elementary, Free, Kids, Library, Virtual
Second and Third graders who are struggling with reading are invited to join We Read 2-3. We Read 2-3 is designed to encourage reading using fun and simple books. This program will give young and struggling readers a chance to read books at their reading level and discuss them as a group. We’ll be reading beginner chapter books and simple graphic novels. We will read books with pictures, humor and action that are less than 150 pages. We hope to provide struggling readers with a fun and successful reading experience that will entice them to read more. Some children will want to come all year and some will be moving on to more difficult books within months. This is a virtual program on Zoom. The zoom link will be send to you once you register.
Our next book is Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea, by Ben Clanton. Here’s a brief description from our catalog.
A happy-go-lucky, waffle-loving narwhal and a cynical, no-nonsense jellyfish forge an unlikely friendship and share adventures while exploring the ocean together.
We are continuing with short simple books to encourage reading. This graphic novel is a great introduction in how to read graphic novels. Since not every kid is able to make the jump into full text, I wanted to provide another format for them to explore in reading. I hope the simple artwork will encourage the kids to draw their own characters.
