The Southeast Michigan, U.S. city of Novi is located in Oakland County. As of 2010, the population consists of 55,224. A popular belief is that the city was named after the number 6 railroad stop or the 6th toll gate on the Grand River toll road. It is known as the birthplace of the Novi engine, which was a racecar engine used in the Indianapolis 500.
